What a fabulous weekend for Llantrisant. A huge thank you to Llantrisant Town Trust for organising such a superb event. So many people and so many memories made.
We were particularly pleased to host a delegation of 9 visitors from our Charter of Friendship town, Crecy in France, and they definitely got to see Llantrisant looking at its best and the community really coming together.
Whether it was your first Beating the Bounds or your 10th Beating the Bounds – well done to everyone who managed to walk the full route – and there were a lot who did. Including 4 of the visitors from Crecy. The weather meant a few red faces by the end of the day, but the blue skies made the countryside around Llantrisant looked fantastic. A huge thank you to the Cadets, Explorer Scouts, Ramblers and Police who ensured the walkers safety at all times. Thank you also to the Polkadot Teapot who donated picnics for the Crecy walkers.
The marquee was a continuous display of local talent - we really are very fortunate to have so many local groups who perform to such a high level. Local businesses all worked hard to support the event and music could be heard late into the night in many of the local pubs. The Cross Inn had a wonderful musical night for the Crecy visitors, helped on the way by a donation of a barrel of Beer by Glamorgan Brewing Company.
For those who made it onto the Common to see the re-enactments – what a treat. The Community Council was pleased to financially support Beating the Bounds to ensure the re-enactments were part of the celebrations.
